Ali Asgher Water Appeal (AAWA) PDF Print E-mail

AAWA“Whosoever provides someone water in a place where there is already water present, is like one who has freed a slave.   And whosoever provides someone water in a place where there is no water present, is like one who has granted life to a soul; and whosoever grants life to a single soul, it is as if he has granted life to all of mankind.”

Imam As-Sadiq (as)

Introduction
The Ali Asghar Water Appeal (AAWA) is an initiative of The World Federation in partnership with The Africa Federation, CoEJ, Council of Gujarat and NASIMCO to provide clean water and adequate sanitation facilities in India, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

Access to a regular supply of safe water and adequate sanitation is a basic human right. Yet the lack of these two necessities is widespread for members of our community living in the developing world. Unsafe drinking water and inadequate sanitation are the cause of a number of preventable diseases among the indignant population of these regions.

Madressa Annual Prize Ceremony PDF Print E-mail

ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY

Alhamdulillah, all the madressa administration, teachers, parents, students and Jamaat EC and general members got together on 20th December to celebrate the end of a successful year. We embarked on madressa project last year and this year has seen the end of first successful year with achievements in academics, co-ordination, team-building, community sense and real brotherhood.

Annual Prize Distribution started at 11 AM. Brother Zuhair Merali commenced proceedings and invited Mohammad Iqbal (Student Class 1) for Tilawat. This was followed by nasheed recitation by Ammar Abbas (Class 4) and Hamza Abbas (Class 7). The audience joined them in their praise with ‘Allah-hu-Allah’. Imran Ladak (Class 7) reflected on his year at madressa. It was the followed by Principal Brother Qamar Abbas’s annual report. He summarised last year and presented plans for next year. His presentation can be viewed by clicking here.

Madressa students then presented a play on hajj. It was in light of Imam Ali Zain-ul-Abidin (AS)’s famous saying when he advised us to follow the spirit of Islam rather than just following rituals. Sister Aqila Manji and Sister Shabnam Valji had taken the responsibility for organising the play and Farwa Jeddy narrated the story.

The Parents’ representative and Br Nadeem Sheikh (Jamaat Secretary) then spoke to audience. Later on trophies and certificates were distributed among the children. Madressa annual magazine was also distributed at the same time.

Programme finished with Salaat Dhuhrain and lunch.

A DVD of the programme was recorded which can be purchased for £5 (contact Parents Representative) and all money will proceed to madressa funds.
