Parents Day - Update
The day was attended by large number of parents and the day was enjoyed by all. After meeting a group of parents, Madressa teachers, parents and students gathered in main hall where we first welcomed Miss Emma Dawson, Headteacher, Lawford Mead School. The presentation started by Reception Class children reciting verses of Quran followed by Dua-e-Imam-e-Zaman (AS). Young children of 3 and 4 years of age recited the Arabic verses beautifully and they were able to capture the whole audience.
It was followed by Principal, Dr Qamar Abbas’ presentation. He presented the summary of this year’s projects including:
• Reception Class
• Muharram Azadari classes and students’ majlis
• Adult classes of Pluralism and now currently on Quran recitation
• Madressa library
• Participation in Ali Asghar Water Appeal where students raised £502 for water wells in India.
He also informed the audience that Madressa Behaviour policy and Teachers’ Handbook will soon be emailed to all concerned. He announced that Madressa sports’ day will be organised at premises on 11th July which will mark the commencement of summer holidays. Students will be given course work which will be published in second Madressa magazine.
Madressa students then participated in Q 114 quiz. Sisters Shabnam Valji and Akila Manji were the judges and Brother Imranali Panjwani was the Quizmaster. After thrilling contests, Qumayl Panjwani won the first and Suhail Haji won the second prize among junior students. Hamza Abbas won the first prize among senior students whereas Ali Asghar Zaman won the second prize.
It was heartening to see the students and parents participating well in Madressa parents’ day and we hope that this participation continues to flourish.
