MADRESSA ANNUAL MAJLIS-E-AZA 2010

On 30th January, 2010, 14th Safar 1431 AH, students of Essex madressa organised their annual majlis-e-aza to commemorate the event of Karbala.

This was the second year in a row, when this event was organised. All the madressa students, teachers and some parents and Jamaat members also attended the majlis.

Suhail Haji, student year 5 opened the proceedings with the recitation of a salaam, ‘Shaam O’ Shaam’, remembering the painful events which happened in Damascus to the progeny of Holy prophet (SAWW). This was followed by a joint speech by Student year 8, Batul Kapasi and Student year 6, Razia Bakhshi. Student year 9, Hamza Abbas, delivered the speech declaring verse 23, Chapter 42, his title, otherwise known as the verse of Mawaddat:

That bounty whereof God gives the glad tiding to such of His servants as attain to faith and do righteous deeds. Say [O Prophet]: “No reward do I ask of you for this message other than that you should love my kinsmen.”

He explained the various types of nafs, a human being can have. He cited Amar bin Saad as the example of Nafs-e-ammara and Imam Hussain (AS) an example of nafs-e-mutmainna. He then went on to recall the event of martyrdom of Ali Akbar.

Students of younger classes and girls of madressa recited first noha followed by another noha recited by Student Class 10 Fazal Abbas Kapasi, supported by Student year 11 Danial Naqvi and Class 8 Rameez Naqvi. All the madressa students recited the final noha together.

Children and other attendees were served tabarruk after the Majlis.

It was a great opportunity to see children remembering the event of Karbala. Madressa aims to encourage children to organise the majlis every year.
