Parent's Day and Imam Ali (AS) Birthday Celebration
Every year, Madressa teachers and parents come together to discuss students' progress and provide feedback on madressa functioning. This useful exercise enables all the parties to develop mutual trust and understanding. At the same time, this occasion is used by students to present their learning objectives. This year, the day was held on 11th June 2011, which fell in the holy month of Rajab, the
birth month of the commander of the faithfuls, Imam Ali Ibn Abu Talib (AS). After the meetings between parents and teachers, students
gathered in main hall where the programme started with Students' representative Danial Naqvi's anchoring remarks as he introduced the day and Imam Ali's great personality to all present. It was followed by Student Suhail Haji, who beautifully recited verses from Holy Quran, reminding us about Imam's stature. It was followed by all classes approaching the stage and reciting beautiful wise sayings of Imam Ali as they understood.
After this presentation, Principal; Dr Qamar Abbas recited the event of 'Muakhaat' or declaration of brotherhood in Madinah. He told that when people of Makkah migrated to Madinah, they struggled, but Holy Prophet declared them each others' brother and named Imam Ali as his own brother. In its remembrance, all students of madressa proceeded to practice the same principle. All the students then picked a name from the hat and declared the name as their brother. The atmosphere was filled with spirituality as all students declared each other their brothers and exchanged presents with each other. The atmosphere was echoed by beautiful recitation of 'Abu Talib ka gharana' as we all remembered the huge impact of Imam Ali AS on Islamic history. The day finished with refreshments and Salaat-e-Zuhr.
